Online Taster Courses

You can start learning Welsh by following these online taster courses. The courses introduce everyday words and phrases and are available to everyone, for free. Some courses have been tailored for different sectors, such as Health and Social Care. To get started, you’ll just need to log in or create an account – it only takes a few moments (choose ‘Other’ in the drop down menu as you create your account). Good luck with learning Cymraeg!

'Welcome' Course

This taster course introduces everyday greetings and phrases.

  • The course is available to everyone, and is free.
  • The 'Welcome' Course consists of Part 1 (5 units, approx. 5 hours) and Part 2 (5 units, approx 5 hours).

'Welcome Back' Course

This taster course is a follow-up to the 'Welcome' course and will help you learn more Welsh. 

  • The course is available to everyone, and is free.
  • The 'Welcome Back' Course consists of Part 1 (5 units, approx. 5 hours) and Part 2 (5 units, approx 5 hours).

'Improving your Welsh' Course

If you're already fluent in Welsh, this is an opportunity to gain confidence to use your Welsh skills - especially written Welsh.

  • The course is available to everyone, and is free.
  • The 'Improving your Welsh' Course consists of Part 1 (5 units, approx. 5 hours) and Part 2 (5 units, approx 5 hours).

Sectoral Courses

As well as the above general courses, Work Welsh has developed a series of Taster Courses for specific sectors. The content of all these are similar to the content of the 'Welcome' course, but every one has been tailored especially for the sector named.
