Searching for an intensive Learn Welsh course?

There are two options available to you:

Option 1 – Two-term intensive course (Autumn and Spring)

Option 2 – Summer term courses

The 2 Term Intensive Course

These courses provide opportunities for education practitioners to develop their Welsh language skills through intensive, full-time study over a set period.

Providers and Regions 

Courses are delivered by three providers, serving the following regions:

North Wales: Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham

Mid and South West Wales: Powys, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot

South Wales: Bridgend, Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Newport, Monmouthshire

Two-Term Intensive Course

  • Who is it for? Primary school teachers in English-medium schools with basic Welsh skills (Foundation Phase and/or KS2).  
  • Levels: - Term 1 (Autumn) – Foundation, Term 2 (Spring) – Intermediate
  • Duration: 2 school terms, full-time
  • Learning Method: A mix of face-to-face and online learning (3 online days + 2 days in a local ‘Hub’)

Course Aims 

  • Develop Welsh language skills and apply them effectively across the curriculum.
  • Learn language teaching methodologies to raise standards and strengthen teacher confidence. 

Note: Applications for the September 2026 courses will open in January 2026.
