Residential Courses for the Education Sector

These are opportunities to join one of The National Centre for Learning Welsh's residential courses. These residential courses are specifically for the Education Sector, and full details can be found below.

  • To ensure registration on the correct level, a chat on the phone will be required.
  • Accommodation will be a single en-suite room, and full board will be included.
  • The courses are fully funded.
  • There'll be an additional cost of £55 for bed and breakfast if you wish to stay at the Nant on the Sunday night prior to the course.
  • Travel and supply costs are not provided.

Entry level Course (progress of half a level -Entry 1)

Residential week at Gwersyll yr Urdd, Llangrannog  led by Nant Gwrtheyrn tutors.

This is an opportunity for individuals at the start of their language journey to study on a residential course at Gwersyll yr Urdd, Llangrannog.

This course will give learners a boost to start using incidental Welsh in their workplace.

The course will focus on language phrases seen in the national Entry 1 course but will focus on vocabulary suitable for a school environment.

This course is run in collaboration with the Urdd.

Entry level course (full level)

This is an opportunity for individuals who are at the beginning of their language journey, to study on an extended residential course with Nant Gwrtheyrn.

This includes:

  • Residential Week 1 (Mon-Fri 20.1.25-24.1.25) at Nant Gwrtheyrn
  • 6 online lessons
  • Residential Week 2 (Mon-Fri 17.3.25-21.3.25) at Nant Gwrtheyrn
  • One online support session at the end of the period

The aim of this course is to rapidly increase the skills of new speakers and to give them the confidence to use simple Welsh in their day-to day work.

This will enable them to contribute proactively to the Welsh environment of their schools.

Build Confidence

24.03.25 – 28.03.25

Residential week at Nant Gwrtheyrn (Advanced and Proficiency levels)

 Practitioners will gain confidence to use the Welsh language in the workplace.

The course will focus on speaking Welsh but will also look at listening, writing and reading skills.

There will be plenty of opportunities during the course to discuss how to use more Welsh at work and will also explore some of the challenges facing the learners.

Entry Level Revision Course
  • This is an opportunity for learners who have completed the Entry Level Course
  • An opportunity to revise the Entry course with a residential course on 28.04.25-02.05.25 before progressing to the Foundation course.
  • The course will be a residential course (Monday-Friday) in Nant Gwrtheyrn, and it will be a great Welsh language immersion experience for learners to enjoy using their new language, a bit of Welsh culture and time to socialise with a group of individuals on the same linguistic level.
  • Especially relevant for those who have completed the Online Self-study Entry Level Course for Education Practitioners.
Foundation Level Revision Course
  • This is an opportunity for learners who have completed the Foundation Level Course
  • An opportunity to revise the Foundation course with a residential course on 19.05.25-23.05.25 before progressing to the Intermediate course.
  • The course will be a residential course (Monday-Friday) in Nant Gwrtheyrn, and it will be a great Welsh language immersion experience for learners to enjoy using their new language, a bit of Welsh culture and time to socialise with a group of individuals on the same linguistic level.
  • Especially relevant for those who have completed the Online Self-study Foundation Level Course for Education Practitioners.
