Brand new Welsh courses for beginners starting this Spring

Brand new Learn Welsh courses for beginners will be starting on 12 May.

The free, 10-week, 30-hour courses combine tutor-led distance learning with independent online study.

Learners will have a choice of time and day – either 10.00am on Tuesdays or 7.00pm on Wednesdays – to follow a course.  They will also be able to choose either a North Walian or South Walian course version.

After completing the course, learners will be able to understand and use everyday phrases.  They will also be able to introduce themselves and ask and respond to straightforward questions.

Helen Prosser, Director of Teaching and Learning at the National Centre for Learning Welsh, said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for new students to join a beginner’s Welsh course.  Our Welsh tutors have been teaching from afar, using remote conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Skype, for several weeks now, and the response from learners has been very positive.  We also have a range of digital resources on our website – learnwelsh.cymru - to support and reinforce learning with the tutor.”

Register your interest by completing this form.  You can also follow the Centre’s online ‘taster’ courses and find out about learning levels within the Learn Welsh sector.
