Taster Courses (Pre A1)

The Blasu (Taster) courses are for people working in health and social care in Wales who are new to Welsh. They teach simple words and phrases to use in the workplace.

Some courses are for anyone working in health and social care, such as Croeso 1. Others have been designed for specific roles or areas of work, such as palliative care.

The courses range from 1 to 10 units. You can study in your own time and at your own pace. All courses are at Pre-A1 (Pre-Entry) level on the CEFR.

Tutor support is available if you would like extra help with your learning.

Tutor-led Croeso Courses

Croeso 1 is a 1.5-hour tutor-led course designed to help you start using simple Welsh in the workplace. Even a few words of Welsh can make a big difference, helping people feel more comfortable and at ease when using health and social care services.

A self-study version of the course is available in the 'Taster Courses (Pre-A1) Health and Social Care' section below.

Croeso 1 is the official Courtesy Level course which supports the Welsh Government's More than Just Words Strategy. It is the first step in learning Welsh for anyone working in health and social care in Wales.
